Bluecharm
Nino Niederrater signs 5 year 5.25 AAV. Sounds about right.
bill0755
Nino @ 5 years @ $5.25AVV or Connor Sheary @ 3 years @ $3.00AV Which one is better value for Capwise? Edited July 31, 2017 by bill0755
Bluecharm
Sure. Sheary is better value. But it's a bit of an anomaly. playing with Malkin, Crosbie, etc. Other comparatives might point to this being Closer to a market valuation. Salros
Nino is more durable and if he's a top 1st, 2nd line winger, he's going to have to be even better. I think his ceiling is higher than Sheary but is it 2.25 million higher? We know Minnesota is betting on Nino to be the real thing.
Ralphdog
That's the thing with these contracts being signed after a career year. As in Nino and Arvidson for example. Are we gonna pay for what we think will be better numbers in the future or did both of these guys just hit their respective ceilings? I think if they produce at status quo then we will get what we paid for.
bill0755
So how much does Granlund get now, under Nino's cap hit of $5.25 or over? Granlund was at $3.0M on old contract and Nino's prior cap hit was $2.667M. Again one good season for Granlund, will he cash in at $6M, as centers always get paid. Zipper
Granny was more of a winger last season, and obviously performed better in that role. But he can play both, and has more of a track record. $6 seems reasonable for him.
Bagwell
6x6?
Bluecharm
Salaries are exploding still so NHL teams have to have players on entry level deals to balance it out.
Ralphdog
I think he will probably come in at 5.5m.
Bagwell
3 x 5.75M AAV for Granlund. Wow.

Like the fact that it's only for 3 years.
Bagwell
A UFA in three years though. If he keeps pace, he's gonna get PAID. Coyle and Spurgeon are UFAs at the same time. It'll be interesting on what they do with Koivu next year as a UFA. I'm assuming it'll depend on the progress of Kunin and Eriksson Ek. I imagine he signs a team-friendly deal next summer.
