weeoiler
gotta move him, or risk losing kapanen. If Marner and Matthews sign for 10M and 12M respectively, and Nylander gets, say, 7m, that will leave the Leafs with 9 roster spots to sign with a little over 8M to do it, for the 2019/20 season. It would also leave them ripe for an offer sheet on Marner for example, if NHL GMs had the balls to take advantage of the rules made available to them. Just can't see how any of this works for the Leafs while still having Nylander in the fold.
Bear in a Hammock
So if Nylander doesn’t sign.... does he have to go through RFA bidding again this coming off season. 😜

orphans
Interesting if true for Nylander owners in CAPWISE Just posting stuff I seen on internet must be true lol "Nylander deal carries $10.2 million cap hit this season because of how late it was signed. Back down to $6.9 million for years 2-6" Edited December 1, 2018 by orphans

Duxburger
Do we know if he has a no move clause, modified or nada? 40 minutes ago, weeoiler said: Gonna be an interesting off season in Leafland Interesting if he does have a no move/modified clause. Maybe they even trade him before the trade deadline ? With Gardiner gone at the end of the year and he'll probably want some money that he isnt worth, they'll need to move someone for a dman

TrevvyD
It's a definite kick in the balls for this season. That cap hit was not planned on. At all.
James
It's an interesting scenario. Let me pose this to the executive committee and see what we want to do in terms of setting a precedent here. I'm not opposed to just making Nylander count at 6.962 across the board, including this season. We'll have a verdict in the next day or two.
