  9. With so many of us around the world suffering with Covid-induced depression and anxiety, I thought it would be interesting if we could take a trip down memory lane and open up some old wounds and see if we couldn't hurt just a little bit more. Maybe we can share a few stories about a trade or a draft pick that we'd like to take a mulligan on. Or maybe a dropped player or whatever. Wow, that's a great idea! I'll go first. I had the fourth pick in the SFHL 2016 Inaugural draft. The three first off the board were Holtby, Crosby and Kane. The three right after my pick were Price, Ovechkin and Karlsson. My pick? Jake Allen. I remember telling a friend of mine around 2015 that the Blues were on the verge of being a dynasty and Allen was going to be a big part of that. Wrong on both counts. But I took some comfort when the Blues took it all a couple years back. I wasn't as wrong as I could have been, I suppose. Especially since Allen was clearly the back bone of that championship run. However, the Allen pick kept me out of the playoffs in that first year and my team dropped to dead last the next year. Things didn't turn around until I traded Allen in the offseason. Anyone else want a mulligan?
  10. I didn't know where the term "mulligan" originated so I googled it. Apparently, David Bernard Mulligan, a Canadian amateur golfer made the term famous in the 1920's. Here are Mulligan's words from a 1952 interview. “One day while playing in my usual foursome, I hit a ball off the first tee that was long enough but not straight. I was so provoked with myself that on impulse I stooped over and put another ball down. The other three looked at me with considerable puzzlement and one of them asked, “What are you doing?” “’I’m taking a correction shot,’ I replied. ‘What do you call that?’ the partner inquired. Thinking fast, I told him that I called it a ‘mulligan’ . . . After that it became kind of an unwritten rule in our foursome that you could take an extra free shot on the first tee if you weren’t satisfied with the original. Naturally, this always was referred to as ‘taking a mulligan.’” there is a version of this story where the golf course is in my hometown of Montreal. So says google.
  11. The way I imagine it, when hockey starts up again I think the difference in skill between the young players and the aging vets will be at a gap wider than we've ever noticed. I think all this down time will have had an adverse effect on the older guys. And I think the caged youth will come out firing on all cylinders next season.
  12. Im no software engineer but isn't it weird it's happening not too long after PXP joined Capwise? Just sayin
  13. Not sure what's going on either. No patience for coaches anymore. Is Julien next to fall and does it happen now that gallant is available?
  14. Is it wrong that every time I see the name Pavel Buchnevich, I read it as Sven Baertschi? I mean, I must be doing something wrong, it is 2019 after all
  15. Reminiscent of the Kucherov bridge deal, and that one was largely credited to the genius of Steve Yzerman. Maybe guys are indeed taking less for a shot at getting their name on the cup.
  16. Crazy maybe, but Imagine Keller goes out and scores 90 points this season. Based on what we likely see coming with this crop of RFA's, Chyka could end up looking pretty smart before this contract expires.
