  1. Well i was messing around with Chat GPT to see what the fuse was about.

Was trying my hand at some AI bot cocktails and figured I should see if it knew anything about hockey.

    Here is what happened;

    Jon:

Build me the best NHL fantasy team 2023, 21 players with team cap of 102 million dollars using each players AAV. 18 skater and 3 goalies.

4 centreman, 4 left wingers, 4 right wingers, 6 defenseman and 3 goalies.

Stats used are the following: goals, assists, plus/minus, penalty minutes, shots on goal, special teams assists, special teams goals, hits, blocks, takeaways and faceoffs won.

Goalie stats are: wins, goals against average, saves, save percentage and shutouts.

    CHAT GPT:

As a language model AI I don't have access to the exact information of the current NHL fantasy team so here's the best possible team I could come up with based on some NHL player data:

    Centremen:

Connor McDavid (Edmonton Oilers) - AAV: $12.5 million

Auston Matthews (Toronto Maple Leafs) - AAV: $11.6 million

Nathan MacKinnon (Colorado Avalanche) - AAV: $6.3 million

Jack Eichel (Buffalo Sabres) - AAV: $10 million

    Left Wingers:

Brad Marchand (Boston Bruins) - AAV: $6.125 million

Gabriel Landeskog (Colorado Avalanche) - AAV: $5.57 million

Artemi Panarin (New York Rangers) - AAV: $11.642 million

Jamie Benn (Dallas Stars) - AAV: $9.5 million

    Right Wingers:

David Pastrnak (Boston Bruins) - AAV: $6.66 million

Mikko Rantanen (Colorado Avalanche) - AAV: $9.25 million

Sebastian Aho (Carolina Hurricanes) - AAV: $8.454 million

Patrick Kane (Chicago Blackhawks) - AAV: $10.5 million

    Defensemen:

Roman Josi (Nashville Predators) - AAV: $9.059 million

Victor Hedman (Tampa Bay Lightning) - AAV: $7.875 million

Kris Letang (Pittsburgh Penguins) - AAV: $7.25 million

Brent Burns (San Jose Sharks) - AAV: $8 million

Alex Pietrangelo (Vegas Golden Knights) - AAV: $8.8 million

Shea Weber (Montreal Canadiens) - AAV: $7.857 million

    Goalies:

Andrei Vasilevskiy (Tampa Bay Lightning) - AAV: $9.5 million

Tuukka Rask (Boston Bruins) - AAV: $7 million

Carey Price (Montreal Canadiens) - AAV: $10.5 million

    Total Team Cap: $102 million

Note: The above data might not be accurate because NHL player contracts and AAV's keep changing.

What are your thoughts, will AI be able to create an awesome team in the future ?

Lets see what you can come up with, maybe changing the wording in your ask to Chat GPT will make you the next banner winner ahahah !!!

I tried regenerating it a few times and for the most part the players stayed the same.

Thought it was pretty cool, but seems their pulling old stats from a few years back.

I believe Open AI (CHAT GPT) only has a few years worth of Data (heard rumors it was from 2019/2020 till present).

@James if any issues with this post and/or if this should have been posted somewhere else ( wasn't sure if this should go under the peanut gallery or here).

  2. Well its been very quiet in this Habs household, unfortunate result yes but who knew Montreal would make it that far  ?

I surely didn't and enjoyed the ride, incredible !

Now I see myself scouring the internet getting sucked into this weird rabbit hole of trade rumors, big names are out there and we have a new team joining the League.

What will happen to Eichel ? does he get shipped or does his counterpart Sam Reinhart get moved ?

What about Duchene and Johansen in Nashville ? do the Preds make a deal with the Karken ?

Will the Kraken be built like Vegas ?

Duncan Keith ? not sure what kind of return you get on that, he's great but the Mileage is high.

RFA Laine, Makar and Kaprizov to name a few, what kind of contracts are we looking at ?

Im sure you've seen it all, but what do you feel is going to happen ?

Does Phillip "PIZZA" Danault get more than $5mil a year ?

Let me know some of your thoughts, Tin hats welcome !

I want an Eichel Trade, I think Rangers would be a good fit.

Makar gets an offer sheet, Pull a Bergy

  3. Well another one bites the dust, but this one seems a little odd.

The team has struggled somewhat but are tied for a Wild card spot, on the losing of tie breaker and are 3 points from firs in their DIV.

I thought Mr.G was  a beaut in Vegas, maybe there is some unknown behind the scene .. a la florida panthers maybe ???

This reminds me of when Habs signed Radulov, virtually everybody scoffed and that worked out pretty well albeit for 1 year

Habs have 4 of their Top 9 hurt right now, it's a no risk move for the rest of this year, there is virtually no way they will do any "tanking" so this could help especially on the PP and if it doesn't help who cares it cost nothing to try.

We as fans in Montreal over think everything and are so easy to criticize ,we signed a spare part for 700K, let's wait a shift or at least a period before we all bitch about how bad Kovy is.

Kovy will do just fine, this is essentially his last chance for some sort of redemption. He'll perform better than he did in LA, he knows he has to if he wants to be relevant in the NHL

heres a  question. assuming we get  like the 7th pick in the draft and detroit  gets  1st.
does  something Big  + 7th Pick get you  #1 pick? draft is in montreal

i think its more like your next two 1st rounders plus roster and/or prospect

  6. Habs are likely not making the playoffs ( still rocking an 11% chance lol )

i think its a good signing regardless where he plays in the lineup.

Maybe the kids in the minors arent ready for NHL action. probably better off letting them get some experience  in there current location as opposed to calling them up to early and possibly losing what confidence they might have at there level.

maybe it works out and as Vegeta said he gets traded, i think any GM would pay 700k for a 3rd pick

Laferniere is a dream, but likely not gonna happen. Montreal would have to tank hard, would have to finish 5th or less (currently sitting 8th from last place)

The rumour is that the agent (who represents both Aho and Point) steered them toward offersheeting Aho when they initially inquired about Point. Don't know if there is any truth to it, but perhaps this indicates Point isn't interested.

if point isn't interested what about other RFA's ? Bergevin needs to do something with all that cap space, this would  be the 3 rd year he has a shit tonne of room and doesn't do anything with it.

So @nhlcanes tweeted that theyll likely match aho contract. Good summer habs fan

Has still have around 8 mil to do something if anything, not like this prevented them to acquire anyone.

Bergy wasn't going to go after a top tear player and potentially overpay, so he goes a route that no one has done in awhile ( maybe this shows the league something about how the offer sheet isn't working and should be fixed to make it usable).

why not give it a go, seems there has to be some sort of background info that we arent privy to and he they believe it can cause them issues/something to think about.

Regardless i think the Canes match, but it would be awesome if Aho went to habs :)

    go habs go !!
