Raken65
Massive trade brewing apparently between Flames and Hurricanes Hanifin and Lindholm involved
Raken65
5 player deal Hamilton Ferland and Fox for Hanifin and Lindholm
djb738
That has been rumored for the last week. Would be surprised to see Hanifin on the move but wouldn’t surprise me to see Lindholm traded. Thought was Dougie Hamilton would be involved.
bill0755
Fox-Hamilton-Ferland Hanifin-Lindholm for now as reported.
Raken65
Yeah it's been confirmed.
djb738
I feel mixed about this. I still think Hanifin and Lindholm have high upside. Hamilton much more proven though and signed long term.
djb738
Don’t be surprised to see Faulk and Skinner moved next
Raken65
I don't know much about Adam Fox but I think this is a good trade for Calgary.
djb738
From what I have heard about Fox is that he is a high end D prospect. Canes knew it was going to be difficult to keep Hanifin and Lindholm. They get Hamilton who is much more proven that Hanifin and signed for the next three years. Ferlund is no slouch either scoring 20 goals last year.
djb738
The more I talk to others I like this from a Canes perspective.
djb738
Fox has been a PPG player at Harvard
Raken65
Yeah just read up on Fox sounds like a good one. I guess it'll come down to how Hanifin progresses I've always liked him.
djb738
Hanifin is still young and had a lot of potential but a fair amount of people seem down on his development so far.
RegDunlop
Does Lindholm have more of a chance of breaking out now, or less?
djb738
Same coach he has had for the last couple of years. Potentially depends on who he is slotted with. But wasn’t like he wasn’t slotted with talent in Carolina with Aho and Teuvo.
djb738
I still think Lindholm could hit 50-60 points

Lindholm is a perinial good 3rd fringe top 6 40 point player with good 2 wAy game. Might get 50ish point if stars align
Raken65
Yeah ,he's an enigma ,I've often heard his compete level is not always there ,is that true?
djb738
I always thought Lindholm seemed to compete. Solid two way player. Rumor he could slot with Gaudreau and Monaghan. If true could push him to 55-60 point range.
djb738
Lindholm wanted $5M/year....Canes weren’t giving him that as he hasn’t shown he is worth that. 40 point player isn’t worth that much.
djb738
Will say that Lindholm is a very smart player and has great vision and is a good passer.
djb738
Hanifin has been very up and down. Goes a stretch where he shows why he was a top 5 pick, then goes stretches when you wonder what he is doing on the ice.
Zipper
Calgary got destroyed here. Hamilton is waaaay better than Hanafin will ever be, and Ferland is probably a shade better than Lindholm. Throw in a pretty good prospect and you’ve got a doozie. I’d be hitting the veto button if this came through our site .

And will make more combined than Hamilton and Ferland. On top of Calgary adding a prospect to this deal. Makes me think there is something behind the scenes. To lose a trade on both on talent and salary isn't good. Maybe Hamilton isn't a good locker room guy? Traded twice before age 26.
Vegeta
i trhink lindholm is better than ferland hamilton has to be better than hanifin at this point who knows about fox if u spend over 8m on both hanifin and lindholm , this trade start looking meh Ferland benefited from monahan gaudreau ( as a ferland owner) but when he got hurt and didnt go back to the 1st line it was all over for him
