The rumour is that the agent (who represents both Aho and Point) steered them toward offersheeting Aho when they initially inquired about Point. Don't know if there is any truth to it, but perhaps this indicates Point isn't interested.

Bergevin needs to do something with all that cap space, this would be the 3 rd year he has a shit tonne of room and doesn't do anything with it.
Bluecharm
Carolina should definitely wait until last minute to match though. It’s a small bit of retribution at least.
bperkins
Do you guys think this ridiculous money is going to hamper capwise? With our budget restrictions it will be hard going after players making over $10 million while 2nd line players making $6-8 million.
djb738
Thought is that Aho’s agent manipulated Bergy to get the offer he wanted for Aho and he wasn’t sure if the Canes would match

But yet also make it even more of a challenge. It could just mean that some star players may not be worth owning. Especially some D who are paid to defend and not necessarily put up stats. I think GMs are going to be put in check soon when no one has any space left to go $10M-plus for star players. In fact, it might already be happening (W. Karlsson, Meier).
