  1. I also think that we're seeing a shift from the player and GM perspective in that the stars take theirs and the gm will fill the gaps as they can. Similar to NBA. Actually I'd be excited if the NHL really started going in that direction as far as flexibility and stuff.

  2. is Wilson going to be there in 8 years? probably not, feels like it was the cost of doing business to try to win now. It's someone else's problem.

Like politics, kick the ball down the road and let the next guy worry about it

  3. I've tried to write something here that felt at least a little logical as a fan....... twice. I can't I don't understand the logic anymore.

I know he fell in the trap of not playing any of the young guns from the AHL when they were called up which is silly at this point in the year.

It's hard to follow, they're a tire fire of the highest order.

  4. Super embarrassing, likely this a candid moments that most players especially those on bottom feeding teams go through but got caught in public shit talking. I don't even know what you do as a coach or GM. Not everyone needs to like their boss in the workforce but getting caught like this I don't know what I'd do.

Canada couldnt break thrue the latvian wall for 57minute . And thats the best hockey team ever assembled vs 2nd tier league nobodies.  Im telling you its a much more passive game.  Sure mcdavid on the break/turn over  will eat dman alive   and powerplay will have an increase in  %  but the overall game  is stale.

That’s one instance. Doesn’t refute anything beyond it was an awkward game on Olympic sized ice. Especially once you throw in that most of those players on the Canadian team do not have habits or muscle memory for rinks that size.

The thing is it doeant give skilled players any real room,  since  the opposing team plays tighter  then on a normal rink to prevent any sizable gap basicly defense over compensate/simplified their play. On a smaller  rink u can over extend a little bit to open up the play  because  the only way way to abuse that is a perfect play.  On a big rink you have more space   so defenseman play much more  safer.

Think of it this way  because its bigger its actually smaller.

Are they playing tighter to the player or closer to their position, feels a little contradictory no? I think giving a Mcdavid or Mckinnon more room to wheel and create plays is sorta the optimal situation. Good deal either way not many D are going to keep up with them. I say do it

Marchand deserve to be freight train  by tom wilson

    How about this  :

    marchand licks eller.

tom wilson  takes the midnight train onto marchand head . Marchand is out for the year beheaded. And wilson isbanned for life. Now thats  killing 2 snowflake with 1 firetorch

    thanks bertuzzi.

  8. Marchand only has 8 majors that's a fight a year in the nhl almost. For all the shit he does. He does not engage a majority of the time in relation to how much he does to irk the other team who want a piece of him. To me to stir the pot and not engage is a straight turtle.

Kadri does the same. Runs his mouth till the refs hold him back then he pretends he wants a piece.

They are so effective at what they do but they rarely fight despite being asked to go frequently.

  9. It weird cause when marchand taunts and never engages or turtles everyone loses their mind calling him a wuss agitator and shit disturber with no spine. Same with Kadri. Now that he did engage and ?????

Eller threw punches back, he didn't turtle as most unwilling fighters do.

I don't think any of this was fantastic but we're really using a lot of skewed lenses to look at this situation

But Ottawa/Colorado still win the draft lottery :D

ouch, it would make an excellent story. I think Laine break 50goals but not the 100 points.

How is MTL going to make it to the playoffs with a 19 as 1c?

I think CBJ soft tanks and trades both bob and Panarin. my hot take

Can't say Dorion is great at trading, so that doesn't give much hope for getting fair asking price in offloading those veterans.

If there is a hope for Sens fans, though, it's that Dorion and his crew are actually really good at the draft table. I'd put them top 10 in the league, for sure, and possibly even top five in their work at the draft table. That's way more than can be said for ... ahem ... the Oilers, for example.

Dorion hasn't been good at drafting in years IMO. He had some good calls with Karlson and so on in the past but as a fan I don't think they've done too well. I will find the tweet with the info but other than Batherson and Formenton not much beyond the 2nd round in the last 5 years has panned out.

  12. I think Bill has it right. It's this insanity coming down from Melnyk has allowed for terrible decision making that goes on and on followed up by the cringeiest reasoning. With a front office of 1.25 people.

I think most fans are ready for a rebuild as Karlsson should leave and wouldn't be surprised to see Stone offer sheeted and Duchene walk at the years end. There isn't much to cheer for and we all await the day Melnyk goes somewhere.

I don't think that the lottery matters. You're playing with house money as its is, so this year or next. Least now we know what assets are infront of us right now.

Maybe Melnyk bleeding money being at the bottom of the league will prompt some change, I don't know. I don't believe the NHL would move a Canadian team that's shown some greatness in the past.

It's such a multi-layered shit show that always comes back to Melnyk.

I hear you on Voynov. But what if (and I've no idea if it's the case) he got counselling or treatment and has truly changed his behaviour? I don't know if it's the case or not, but if he has, I think people are entitled to a second chance after paying their dues.

then i think him and his agent need to get ahead of the curve and demonstrate these things. at this juncture as far as the public is concerned nothing has changed.
