I think the main factor is he really dislikes the Oilers management. Sounds like they didn’t communicate with him from day one.

When he arrived he spoke very little English and they had him living in a random hotel, with no one around. Pretty crazy for an 18 year old kid.

Agreed. I was just thinking that if he makes peanuts, it's an indication of just how much he hates management.

Didnt know about the hotel. That's wild... seems to be pretty basic knowledge that you have to surround a kid like that with some kind of a network, as the Pens did with Sid living at Mario's house, and as the Habs did with Kotka and the nucleus of other Finns (plus his mom, who moved to Montreal for the year).

Well that’s underpaid compared to Bob’s contract.  But a tough contract for Capwise nevertheless.

Don’t forget that this is Vas’ first big-money deal. Bob had the $7 million deal. Huge jump in salary for Vas.

were all  caught up in the AAV , but thats not the point here,  caroline doesnt care about AAV, but 21m  is exactly  the  gate revenu they took in  last year.  Bergevin cant br throwing out  an offer like that if  he thinks its going to be an instant  snap match

Interesting, point Veg. Maybe there’s something to this, then. Like I’ve been saying for years now, Marc Bergevin is a brilliant strategist. Hope this works out!

Ha ha! Glad to know someone else is in the same boat. I’m working in my break room, in five second intervals between glances at the tv. Cmon Habs just spend that money already!!

  5. Re: Letang, Pittsburgh has been looking to move him for a while. Maybe less so now that Kessel is gone. A blog called Pittsburgh Hockey Now cited a “well-placed source within the Canadiens organization” about a week ago.

Anyway, back to the point - this Shaw move doesn’t seem entirely necessary to me from a cap perspective. Boo, I say. Boo.

  6. That was actually a good deal. And Shaw wasn’t as attractive a player then. He just had a monster year and is super cheap. Less term remaining, obviously, but still.

I sure hope MB isn’t making room for Letang. I love him as a player but the celebrity of being a francophone Quebecer playing for the Habs will kill him - it’s not a good fit.

  7. Makes sense given the contractual situation of the other top D and with Fabbro poised to take a spot but I would have thought there would be a better return. Last year wasn’t great for PK but he can still be elite.
