As others have mentioned, I'm most surprised by the Carolina and Minnesota picks. I thought surely one of Bean or Nino would be picked. Also surprised no DeMelo and, to a lesser extent, no Domi.
It'll be interesting to see if some are explained by side deals. protecting Talbot over Kahkonen didn't make much sense at face value, so I'm assuming there was some kind of deal in place. Or maybe I'm just out to lunch on the guy, but I thought he was the best available goalie option.
It's hard to imagine Edmonton could not (would not) match the Larsson offer.
As a Canes fan more than happy to be able to keep both Bean and Nino. Has been mentioned by Canes reporters no side deals between the Canes/Kraken

Can’t play in the 19-20 playoffs, but big addition my GM Guerin for the 20-21 season, looks like great Capwise value for 2 seasons

Salaries can be regenerated (updated) in Fantrax by the commissioner and can be set to use whatever the league uses (salary, cap hit, AAV, etc...). It is just a click of a button. I just did this for another league. As of a couple days ago, the Fantrax database had updated salaries as of the Tobias Reider signing.

That’s 14%. Half it because they are taxed on where the game takes place.
7% of 6.75 isn’t 1.8
Regardless seems to be the consensus opinion amongst reporters. Same thing was said with the Stamkos contract that the equivalent contract with Toronto would have been $2M+ than what he signed for with Tampa.

I’d really like to know the math he used for that one.
I believe I read somewhere that the rate that the contract will get taxed at in Florida is around 39% where the rate that the contract would be taxed in Toronto would be around 53-55%

But it doeant factor in that your paid in usd while living in canada which is HUGE , also your not getting an add with gatorade in tampa, in TO well you know...
So you are assuming that Point gets no big endorsements in Tampa?

The point is more that it’s not an easy answer, like we all want it to be.
The tax amount isn’t easy to calculate. Neither is the reason he would sign for so less. Lots of factors at work.
Though isn’t 8.5% of 6.75 million like 500k?

Read that Points contract is equivalent to a $8.5M/year contract in Toronto.

So Canes need another defenseman??
Need to move someone....a lot of depth on D.
Great signing, term and AVV
Faulk seems the likely one to be moved. His name has been involved in trade rumors and he only has a year remaining on his current contract.

Love it!

1 year deal...Edmonton will retain his rights.

Not sure what they can do considering cocaine is not a PED

Well video may have been true. Just banned from IIHF for four years for testing positive for cocaine

I stopped when I saw a Player with the same first name....my options are wide open....either Devin Setoguchi or Devin Shore

Thought is that Aho’s agent manipulated Bergy to get the offer he wanted for Aho and he wasn’t sure if the Canes would match

Either way Montreal should go after Point.

I think he has some upside but felt the Canes have more players/prospects to replace a player like him than they did Bean.
