tsn reported on the Gate revenu thing, and yeah they should wait 7 days for the answer, so i basicly the canes are holding that 8m cap space and draft pick so mtl cant do anything for a week
Hurricanes made $109M in revenue in 2017-2018 and that was with no playoffs. Exactly and that statement from Waddell made it sound like they have already made up their mind.

were all caught up in the AAV , but thats not the point here, caroline doesnt care about AAV, but 21m is exactly the gate revenu they took in last year. Bergevin cant br throwing out an offer like that if he thinks its going to be an instant snap match
Where are you getting this "gate revenue" from? The Hurricanes owner is a billionaire I don't think $21M affects him much. They have continued to say they will match any offer on Aho...we will see if they stay true to their word. Waddell just had a press conference and said probably won't match immediately and may wait out the 7 days so Montreal can't sign anyone else.

I will gladly take Aho on that deal.

seems like theyre poor
Their owner spent $250 Million last year on a startup football league and closed it down a month later (think he was after the technology). He has plenty of money to spend.
Also, why does it seem like they are poor?

they cant deal with a frontloaded contract like 10m bonus 1m salary et 10m bonus 1m salary 2 years in a row. thats more than the money they rack in front the Gate
They can't deal with it? Where is this coming from I'm pretty sure they could handle that if they needed to.

This is Eklund's favorite time of the year.......just throw anything out there and people who don't know any better run wild with it.

Marleau is gone

If they really want to have any chance with an offer sheet it needs to be for Marner or Point. Supposedly Marner and Leafs were discussing a contract extension yesterday...either a 3 year or 5 year.

seems like an offersheet to carolina is a blank shot , they arnt 1 of the cap hell team, and the owner just said yes to basicly buying a 1st rounder with money (marleau)
Exactly, the Hurricanes have already said they will match any offer sheet presented to Aho. From what I have read is that they are close in salary (around $9M-$9.5M per) the sticking point is the term. Hurricanes wanted 8 years and Aho only wanted 5 years. I also read that basically any team that has called Aho's agent is that he immediately told them that Aho likes Carolina and doesn't want to leave.
-
I believe Pavelski was $7M per
Hurricanes are probably looking to go with Mrazek or Lehner.
Panarin is down to three teams...Florida, Islanders, and Rangers. I believe I read if it is Florida it will come in around $11M if it is either NY team it will be around $12.5M

Friedman talking of an offer to Lee of 7y/8M
That sounds... bad.
Yeah...seems a bit much. I believe Lee initially asked the Islanders for 7 years $7M per....and now he is a free agent.

If so that’s a good contract for Duchene.

Of course you do! First round pick for free, so to speak.
Exactly! No complaints here haha

Be ready for Duchene to the Preds. Needed to clear some cap space which they did.

Love that trade for the Canes

Is it time to consider a soft salary cap in the NHL? Similar to NBA or MLB?
Incentives teams to win and spend money, because they aren't limited like they are with a hard cap.
If Tampa wants to spend $7M over the cap, let them. Costs them a luxury tax to go over. Lower revenue teams split the luxury tax, giving them more money to spend on players.
Please don’t. I can’t stand that about the NBA and MLB. If anything, continue to raise the salary cap but maintain a hard cap.

Man the NHL is becoming a stars and scrubs league. This contract makes John Carlson’s look pretty good. Is E Karlsson even ownable in CHA leagues?
Was just getting ready to ask the same question about if Karlsson is ownable in our leagues with that contract. I know I dumped Doughty in a league because I didn't want to pay him $11M/year.

All I can think about is Gudas and Wilson on the ice at the same time....

But if they are referring to $21M of just tickets that doesn't include media, merchandise, and other revenue streams.
