Exactly. Yakupov is flashy and fast all right, but he's ultimately a perimeter player who doesn't play great defence. Surprising that's someone Hitch would want on his team. Will he flash with some skill from time to time? Sure. But I'm betting he drives Hitch nuts sooner rather than later and gets demoted to either the fourth line or press box. My money is on Yak going to the KHL next summer after flaming out. The return the Oilers got was a decent draft pick and Kris Russell. I'd make that trade any day.

I managed to secure several up-and-coming defencemen during the PCFL inaugural draft in 2008, picking up P.K. Subban, John Carlson and Kevin Shattenkirk. I also had Byfuglien, Weber and Chara, so I was set up well for lots of success.

Been drafting since 2008 in CHA. Plenty have worked out nicely, but many have not. My 2009 draft had these busts who I thought would work out ... Carter Ashton (16th overall) David Rundblad (24th overall) Jordan Caron (33rd overall) * Got Nazem Kadri 9th overall that year and Kyle Palmieri 31st, though.
