  1. Craig Anderson may be on the move. Lehner didn't work out; would Buffalo try for another Ottawa goalie.
  2. It's draft day folks! I thought it might be a good idea to have a dedicated thread to post all rumours, thoughts etc. leading to the draft and throughout. Some big names potentially on the move. -Lots of talk surrounding Pacioretty being traded today (possibly to LAK) -ROR -do the Sabres move him before having to pay him a 7.5M bonus July 1st. -Could Karlsson be moved today? (I doubt it).
  3. It's like playing 7 posts of separation. Whatever topic is discussed in the opening post, there's always a way to make it all about the Habs in the end.
  4. I hear you on Voynov. But what if (and I've no idea if it's the case) he got counselling or treatment and has truly changed his behaviour? I don't know if it's the case or not, but if he has, I think people are entitled to a second chance after paying their dues.
  5. Hockeyyy Insiderrr. That was cold, Salros.
  6. I dunno, I'd take the Hockeyy Insiderr with a grain of salt. When Hockeyyy Insiderrr (3 Ys, 3 Rs) tweets it, you'll know it's true.
  7. The Panthers will also get a 2018 seventh round draft pick with Hoffman in exchange for a 2019 second round draft pick and 2018 fourth and fifth round draft picks. This doesn't look good for Dorion. That second round pick alone would have been a better return for Hoffman.
  8. It's a tough call. Though the Sens have pretty good odds of being terrible again next season, the lottery gives them zero guarantee of a better spot than #4. I don't know how good next year's crop is looking beyond Hughes, but it's hard to pass up on this year's pick and essentially gamble against yourself. Not the best message to send to the players / fans either.
  9. Such a PR nightmare, they needed to act quickly. Wasn't sure they would find a willing trade partner, but the Sharks aren't afraid to take risks on controversial personalities and you can't really lose that trade no matter what happens with Hoffman.
  10. So how about San Jose, Montreal, Toronto, Pittsburgh, NYR, Vancouver and NYI each get him for one day per week. Is that allowed?
  11. Do you also enjoy stealing candy from little children in your spare time? Why do you insist on taking away the small glimmer of hope I have remaining as a Habs fan?
  12. We need a little hope around these parts. Who are you hoping for at #6?
  13. https://www.tsn.ca/kotkaniemi-surges-into-top-five-of-tsn-draft-ranking-1.1115400 Interesting to see the fluidity in the top 10 since the last rankings. From a Habs fan perspective, I am warming up to the idea of Kotkaniemi or even Dobson at #3. Will Ottawa go Tkachuk or Zadina or do they go D? Maybe Bouchard?
  14. The money issue is an important point. I don't know what the Isles' financials are like. I assume he's looking for >3M, which may feel like a big chunk of change to spend on a non-player for a team with limited revenue.
  15. Wow!!! I did not see that one coming. George Costanza style. Thank you, I'm out! Your NYI speculation is interesting. Would add to the arguments in support of Tavares re-signing.
  16. What is this, the CFL? But, yeah, the logo is awesome. I particularly love the team motto.
  17. Bah! You were outed as a Domi hater months ago. Jono will be reaping the benefits for years.
  18. My sense is it's mostly attitude / lifestyle issues. I just think the relationship was toxic and wasn't ever going to get better. After last season, I'm sure the idea is to clear some of the air in the locker room and press reset for the next season. Hockey-wise, I think poor decision-making and, to a lesser extent, less than ideal speed are his main issues and limit his ability to succeed 5v5. But with a fresh start, I won't be shocked if he improves significantly.
  19. I'm sure they're hoping, but they are probably looking at ROR or Stastny in terms of a more realistic plan B. Also, I really think/fear they go hard after Johnson.
  20. I don't think this changes anything with respect to the centre position. Whether one agrees with it or not, Habs management were never ever going to play Galchenyuk at centre again. As for using him to trade for a centre, I'm sure they tried. But whether you choose to blame the organization, the player or both, the fact is his trade value has been steadily decreasing the last two years. I don't think anyone at this point would have given up a top 6 centre for him as the main return. I can definitely see the bold prediction happening, the more I think about it.
  21. I won't lie. It feels weird and slightly disconcerting for me to be on Marc Bergevin's side for a change. I guess I can look forward to things getting back to normal when he signs Jack Johnson to a monster contract.
  22. That's not really fair, though. Domi's only played three seasons and that best year was his rookie season. Three seasons in, his numbers are better than Galchenyuk's at the same stage in his career.
  23. I think the change of scenery will do both players good. I don't know what went on with Galchenyuk behind the scenes, but it was obvious to me the relationship was damaged beyond repair. He may very well flourish in Arizona, but it never would have happened in Montreal. As for Domi, I don't watch Arizona hockey, cuz, you know, they suck. But I've always liked him and I'm cautiously optimistic he rebounds ( and in fact he had started to towards the end of the season). I like it for both teams.
