  1. Bergevin did not want to give that contract to Subban, Molson did. Bergevin took Subban to arbitration. Bergevin is not out before Monday, so Price is staying put.
  2. Bergevin is not trading Price. He just gave him a gazillion dollars. He's not about to change his mind on the guy or admit a mistake. Human nature.
  3. Weber shut down, Price out indefinitely. If only Gallagher could take a hint and stop trying so damn hard, we might have a shot at Dahlin.
  4. Thanks. Do you guys see a big difference between Tkachuk and DeBrincat? I've already gone back to the other Gm asking for Tkachuk. Wondering if I should tweak the offer now.
  5. In a points-only keeper, who do you prefer between Matthew Tkachuk and DeBrincat? Same question between Konecny and Bjorkstrand. Context: Thinking of trading my Wheeler for 2 of the above, as I begin my long journey toward a rebuild.
  6. There was a pretty cool story this morning in La Presse. Early morning on Tuesday January 9, this 19 year-old kid from Tremblant (a touristic area about 90 minutes north of Montreal) was skating by himself in -15 celsius weather on an outside rink when this Jeep pulled into the parking lot. At first, he's kinda bummed because he was hoping to have the ice to himself, but he immediately recognizes the man stepping out of the vehicle. Sidney Crosby walks over, takes a closer look at the ice and the area and asks the kid if he's expecting the place to get busy. The kid tells him it's usually pretty quiet this early in the morning and asks him if he wants to join him for a skate. Crosby, who is on vacation with his girlfriend, goes back to his jeep to get his equipment and ends up skating with the guy for over an hour! Link to the article (in french) attached: http://www.lapresse.ca/sports/hockey/201801/31/01-5152080-seul-sur-la-glace-avec-sidney-crosby-a-mont-tremblant.php The pics in the article were taken by Crosby's girlfriend.
  7. Boys, I hate to be on Bergevin's side here, but you're not playing EA Sports. I love Gallagher, but he's a 45-point player with heart. Pacioretty and him don't get you a 22-year old, 220lb, +70 point first-line centre AND a top-4 dman.
  8. Agree with all the names mentioned so far. Mine would be: Crosby Getzlaf Keith Bergeron Subban
  9. Oh my god, Bergevin is actually the Joker! Quick, someone turn on the Bat-signal.
  10. Whatever the explanation may be, it's a shame. I was being generous with my 75% assessment. Some rows had only a 3-4 people in them. As for the people staying on the concourse area explanation, I guess I'm just an old crank, but I can't believe people pay that kind of money to hang out in a glorified shopping mall instead of watching the game.
  11. Currently watching the Montreal @ Detroit game. Pretty surprised to see so many empty seats. Not sure how things look up in the nosebleeds, but the seats you see on tv look to me like they're only about 75% filled.
  12. Oh. I thought hits. Yes that does make a difference
  13. Too late to for the party. Those are fine picks. I might have wanted Trochek personally, but it's close and you obviously don't need help.
  14. Yes, maybe a slight overpay but they get the best player. Actually looks like all teams involved should be happy with the return
  15. Galch with a pretty good game. Hoping he and Drouin can develop chemistry.
  16. Duchene traded to Ottawa Turris to Nashville (6x6 extension) COL gets Girard, Kamenev, Bowers, Hammond, 1st, 2nd, 3rd
  17. That's too bad. I was excited to see him back. He's been through a lot and may need to take it a little slower and be in a familiar environment as a first step.
  18. The reason I'm not on board with the "Therrien messed him up theory" is that Galchenyuk was actually progressing well under his tutelage. If you just look at his points total, you'll see a constant progression from year to year, culminating with a 30 g and 56 pt season in 15-16. Before he got injured in 16-17, he was on pace to eclipse the previous year's total. But for whatever reason, he hasn't been the same since returning from that injury. And not only has he not improved after Therrien's firing, he's gotten worst. I don't know what's behind that, but I really don't believe it's Therrien. I also agree with management's assessment that he's better off on the wing. Relieves him of the extra defensive duties and let's him focus on what he should be excelling at.
  19. He started on the first line against LAK Oct. 18. He sucked and took two successive penalties in the first, leading to LAK's first goal. One shot on goal. He played again on the first line against ANA the next game. Habs got 50+ shots that night. Galchenyuk? 1 shot in 18 TOI. They are paying him 4.9M a year. Having him play on the 4th line is the worst possible outcome for them. They're not doing this because they're big bad meanies. Byron started the season on the 4th line even after scoring 20+ goals last season. He's worked his way back up to a top six role. If Byron can do it, so can Galchenyuk. Nothing would please Julien and Bergevin more. However they may feel about the individual, they understand that they have the most to gain in having him contribute to the success of their team.
  20. Does it? So. Galchenyuk underperformed under Therrien because Therrien is a terrible coach. Galchenyuk continues to underperform under Julien because Julien is a racist. Can't wait to find out what fault we'll find with his next coach to explain why he's still awful.
  21. I admitedly don't watch that many Edm games. I'd be curious to know how the Edm fans on here feel about his game. In any case, I'm pretty sure he's not a perpetual liability in his zone and a turnover machine, so there is that.
  22. They need a new GM They need that new GM to take the first flight to Kazan and start grovelling.
  23. I'm good with that. And gimme Kate Upton for my wife while you're at it.
  24. I may be massively undervaluing what Price can get you in a trade. I'll definitely concede that. It's hard to know what the artist formerly known as "best goalie in the world" on the biggest goalie contract in the world is worth. But I'll bet you a ham sandwich 31 out of 31 NHL GMs say RNH is a better hockey player than Galchenyuk.
