  1. Yea. Their window is until they have to re-sign Karlsson. This is why they couldn't do the six year deal with Turris. I guess they're hoping White or Brown are ready for top six in three years.
  2. That's a lot to give up for Ottawa. Too much if you ask me. But they did make their team better in the short teams, and didn't give up any top prospects. Maaaaybe it'll work out?
  3. It's early and their record is worse than it should be. They're gonna make a small, nearly meaningless trade, turn it around for a bit and Bergevin will look like a miracle worker... for a bit. Probsbly still gonna miss the playoffs.
  4. Gord's lyrics are usually a little too deep for my students, and he's not current, so it just makes me look old . But I do quote some lyrics when teaching history, and I pull random examples when teaching English things like personification and imagery (ex: constellations reveal themselves one star at a time).
  5. It's a tough day for me, and we knew it was coming. Gord was a poet who sang a lot about Canadian history - perfect music for a history and English teacher.
  6. I think this deal will look very good for the Sabres once the year is done. Eichel could be a top 5 player in his prime. I was thinking of trying to trade for him in my leagues, with the hopes that the Sabres would drive a hard bargain for a bit, and end up with a top 3 centre on a Draisaitl type deal. No luck there. After this year, Eichel may have been able to ask for 11.5 or so (Matthews money), so I think all sides will be happy.
  7. I've done a few. Found it really hard to keep up, with every player playing every day. Especially when you take a vacation.
  8. I think Henrique was my second choice for the C spot. I didn't see how he could miss, and he was one of the first members The Half Centaurs ever added to jv, so I have a soft spot for him. Maybe he'll rebound this year??
  9. This was me last year in the PCFL draft. I'm not sure what happened in the PCFL last year, but a lot of GMs (including myself) picked in to the third round. This caught me off guard, and I ended up getting scooped and having to go with plan Bs or Cs. I was targeting Vlasic with the 11h pick, he went at 10 and I grabbed Gudas. That worked out way better than I could have imagined. I wanted Brassard with the 25th pick. He went at 23, so I grabbed De Haan. Brassard didn't live up to expectations, but De Haan did, and his contract stayed reasonable after RFA. Right after I picked De Haan, Staal went. I was choked. I really thought I could grab him at the end of the draft (what was I thinking?). I also had Henrique and Backlund in mind for that slot but they were taken in the first round. I settled with Anisimov and really didn't like that pick. He turned out to be very solid (way better than my first choice, Brassard) and helped me win the league. I actually walked away from that draft thinking it was a disaster, but I won the league thanks in large part to those players. There was a lot of luck there for me.
  10. I heard a Pastrnak for Horvat rumour, but that one feels like a lose for both parties.
  11. Don't think Edmonton is gonna trade a centre. They've been lacking in depth at C for 10 years. So much so that they just traded one of their top wingers for a C. I think they're plan is to run Draisaitl with Mcdavid, and RNH, Strome and Letestu as their other centres. First time in years they've had competent bottom 6 centres.
  12. Granny was more of a winger last season, and obviously performed better in that role. But he can play both, and has more of a track record. $6 seems reasonable for him.
  13. The depth at fwd might give them ammo for a trade, too. Top 2 dmen are hard to come by.
  14. Do they have room for Markov still? They have 13 mill, need to re-sign Galchenyuk, and still need to replace Redulov or add a C. Markov seems like a good fir for Toronto now. Can sign him for a deal that will expire when Marner and Nylander get a raise.
  15. Schlemko is underrated, I like that pickup for them. Don't know if he's better than Emilen, tho.
  16. I really thought the team would be better than the Canucks. It's not. They have no centres. Though their future is certainly brighter. Another thought. Montreal just lost 3 D in 3 weeks and still don't have a first line centre. What's their plan?
  17. Wnnipeg gave up a pick (a first?) to protect its good guys. Guess a fighter helps 'sell' the game. I'm shocked they didn't take more goalies. Seems like they took a lot of bottom pairing d. Didn't think there'd be a market for the TVR types.
  18. Some teams are sending guys down to the AHL for bye weeks. Might need to make an exception to the green flag rule for this.
  19. Still had problems after clearing cookies, but it looks like updating the phone mitigation have done the trick.
  20. Sounds good, thanks. I really should have read your entire post earlier .
  21. I'm getting this in most of my attempts to log in on mobile, and I eventually get booted after I do log in. Havent tried on computer yet. I assume I just keep trying?
  22. Greiss has had a good couple of weeks and they really like Berube. Halak has been bad; his agent complained about he three goalie system awhile back and Snow responded by saying Halak was on the trading block. I guess there weren't any takers. I actually don't see anyone picking up Halak. Teams either don't need anoejr goalie or can't afford his salary.
  23. This one's on the liney. The way he went in, Kesler thought he had Domi's arm. A linesman can't go half way in like that.
  24. Paajarvi has found a place as a depth guy in St. Louis. I get the impression that him and Hitch are on the same page. He's not the superstar he was drafted to be. But St Louis might actually be happy with what they have.
  25. Insert obligatory 'The prospect tourney is the only time if year the Oilers can get excited about their play' joke. Also, The Canucks suck. Too bad Boeser isn't in the tourney.
