  1. After looking closer at Tkachuk and DeBrincat, I think your correct to pursue Tkachuk.
  2. I'd go with DeBrincat and Konecny. I believe DeBrincat has shown he can play in the NHL and can handle the physical punishment a small player must endure.
  3. I'm going to narrow my five to forwards. But selecting Nashville's D would for the team's defense sounds good to me. Crosby Kopitar Schenn Bergeron Kucherov
  4. And a bigger problem would be who would pay for the Team's insurance? That subject has always been a difficult issue to resolve. I doubt we see a Russian or a Belarus team.
  5. People who can afford inflated ticket prices are the ones who can spend on concessions. I believe today's model for the best return of a team's arena is not generated by the number of seats occupied but how much revenue a seat can generate while occupied. All Sports continue the trend towards becoming elite institutions that only the wealthy can afford to view personally while most fans use a screen to enjoy the event. Sports is a cash game and as the percentage of the wealthy shrinks, the arena/stadium will focus on servicing the ones who have the cash to spend making it very difficult for the middle-class fan to afford viewing their sport in-person.
  6. It must be based on the same data source as SportsNet. SportsNet isn't showing any game results right now either.
  7. The best idea I heard to deal with Galchenyuk is trade him to another team. You're not going to get much but I don't think he can work through the mental barrier he's created in Montreal because of the mismanagement. But Thunder's observation is correct. If Galchenyuk could accept the demotion and work his way to a promotion, the Canadiens could get a decent return for him.
  8. Price needs a new goalie coach. Pacioretty needs contacts. Drouin needs to learn how to take face-offs. Petry and Alzner need to find their game. They need better net presence. They need to practise, practise breaking out of their zone.
  9. A man who knew where his roots were. A man who cared. A man the world will miss but particularly Canadians who knew him best. A man who showed us all how to pass on with grace when one knows they're dying. I will miss you Mr. Downie but I'll listen to your words through your music until the day I die.
  10. Damn. Big baseball, fantasy baseball fan until the height of the Bash Brothers steroid fiasco. Now James may suck me in to watching the Blue Jays again. Maybe by 2020, the Expos will be reincarnated here in Montreal. It feels like a Fantasy Gaming Empire being born.
  11. Oh so cruel. They never should have built their arena above First Nation's sacred ground. Cursed forever. Poor Mason. Has (had?) the talent but it doesn't always show up on the ice.
  12. If you're an elite player in today's NHL, $10 million is becoming the new normal. I'm expecting Tavares' salary will at least double with his next contract.
  13. I'd be surprised if he was able to reach the 45 pts level. But he's a solid fantasy defenseman with above average stats and quality PP time.
  14. I love to draft. If I did what I wanted, I'd draft a team every year. But, how many CHA teams can one person handle? I don't think we know the answer to that one but Ralphdog is testing the boundaries. We've all had this one. It's what makes live drafting so much fun. You're 2 picks away from making your selection. You've analyzed where your team is at. You decide which position you should fill next. You've filtered through all the available options and now you're one pick away from selecting the one you want. Then, he's gone. You see his name go on the board and a wave of emotions hits you as your brain explodes with thoughts of evil retaliation, lost, panic and wishing you had a 2nd option. You look at the clock. It is already down to 2min30sec from 3 minutes. It's at this moment you feel most like a GM at an NHL draft. And it's been these moments that I believe most of my drafting mistakes have been made. So when I get in this situation now, I make a conscience effort to make a safe pick and move on. If life wasn't so damn busy, it would have been great to keep our Inaugural Draft live for the 21 rounds. But the 8 rounds we did complete was so, so much fun.
  15. This is not a good contract for those teams still trying to sign RFA players. I bet there are some teams who wish they had signed a couple of RFAs before this marker was put into the mix.
  16. Could Tavares feel his career has been hurt playing home games on one of the worst ice surfaces in the NHL? If I hated going to practice because of the ice surface, going to a place with great ice could be very enticing. I wonder how much Tavares feels his home ice has held him back from being a top 5 player in the NHL.
  17. $5.25 million in 2017-18, $5.5 million in 2018-19 and $6.5 million in 2019-20. Everybody was a bit right. Like the fact that it's only for 3 years.
  18. Montreal D pairing Weber/Schlemko Petry/Alzner Benn/Streit Davidson/? Life is never perfect and leaves Weber wanting something more but Schlemko could be just good enough to let Weber be Weber. The 2nd pairing would be quite solid. The rest are decent dman and if they play up to their potential, they could turn out to be quite solid. If Juulsen can take the next step, he could give the bottom pairing a little more scoring ability. One fact that should make Price happy, he's got some very good shot blockers in front of him.
  19. Montreal needs more than RNH and it's going to cost them since everyone knows how bad they need a #1 center for this season. If SJ falters out of the gate, would SJ be willing to part with Thornton. He could be a great 1 year solution and probably would not cost the Canadiens more than a decent prospect or draft pick.
  20. Not much more to say. Bluecharm pretty much covered it. The forwards need to be much better and the blue line must prove it can be reliable. Price can't be the best player on the ice all the time. Option 1 and 2 ain't happening. But then again I was sure there would be a women President. It does seem the pendulum of success between Montréal and Toronto is swinging west.
  21. Nino is more durable and if he's a top 1st, 2nd line winger, he's going to have to be even better. I think his ceiling is higher than Sheary but is it 2.25 million higher? We know Minnesota is betting on Nino to be the real thing.
