  1. Hope nobody has plans to golf at Mytle Beach this fall. They could be facing a 10 ft storm surge. This hurricane is one those that haunts your nightmares when you live in the SE.
  2. So I was looking at some of our GM locations. I believe we have at least 4 GM (Bardown26, bill0755, Sammynos, djb738) in the path of Hurricane Florence. I think they will not have power on Saturday. I'm proposing we postponed all Re-Entry draft until Sept 22nd. I think some people will be spending the next couple of weeks without power. Everyone north of Georgia on the East Coast is going to feel this one.
  3. Are not the Tampa Bay Lighting almost good enough to win a Cup? I guess when you've won a Cup, you don't need to stick around and win another. If he does go back to Detroit, maybe he likes to rebuild a franchise instead of enjoying the fruits of his labour.
  4. Vegas baby! 2nd year in the Finals for the Cup. Maybe not. The D is a big ?. Fleury is in for a flurry of pucks. The Knight player smiling the most, Tuch.
  5. I think the Kopitar/Kovy combo will work well and Kopitar has another big season. As to defense, could trading Kuznetov or Giroux/Rantanen bring you a better dman than Ghost? Giroux PPP will stay strong with JVR on his PP line.
  6. Tough, tough draft. When I'm 10 picks away, I've often found my top 8 to 9 players have been picked by the time I can make a selection. Unfortunately, I'm finding this occurrence to be the norm.
  7. Leafs-Oilers could be a good match for a Capwise Community Night. Unfortunately, they don't play until February.
  8. August 19- 45 days to the NHL seasoner opening game. 27 days to the 1st pre-season game. I'm pre-calling the 2018-19 season as the Canadian Teams comeback. I see Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary and Edmonton being playoffs teams. I'm dreaming of a Stanley Cup Final Series being played in Canada. The Networks probably won't like it but I will. But first, we need one Canadian team to make the Finals. My bet is on, as well as the early Las Vegas betting line, Toronto as the most likely team to accomplish this feat. Go LEAFS!
  9. I've always believed Subban would put his name on the Cup. I just thought it would be with Montreal. Nashville's making some great moves to improve his chances.
  10. I see lucky Larkin owners leaping for joy. If Detroit turns things around in the next couple of seasons, he'll be a big part of it.
  11. Did he cry puppy tears or was the emotion real? I've heard many stories but I'd like to believe Gretzky was being honest and it really hurt to leave. It was a great day for LA and a very important day for the NHL. The beginnings of todays NHL's TV success in the USA goes back to this moment.
  12. The stronger he gets the better he will be. Great contract for the Coyotes. If he doesn't meet expectations, a fairly easy contract to move even though it's for 6 years.
  13. I had both and choose to keep Karlsson. If it’s a mistake, at least it’s only for 1 season.
  14. Ahh, but one good trade for the right dman or goalie could put them in the playoffs. If Hutton has a great start and they're competing, they still have some young talent they could move for a proven veteran. More likely, 2019-20 will be the breakout season. But the ship seems to sailing in the right direction, finally! I like the future of the Sabres much better than the Rangers.
  15. Careful with seeing women in that way. Many women only wear make-up to meet the standards society has placed upon them (or how they've been raised to view their own self worth). Your correct make-up enhances the beauty of a women. Their was a day that one viewed a beautiful women as having a powder white face with no colour. Still, even the ugliest male visual media person wears make-up because we've been brainwashed to love/demand perfection.
  16. The intense desire to win and stupidity does them in every time.
  17. Can a women with marginal looks make it as a Newscaster or Sportscaster today? Unfortunately, I think not. I know of a few male sportscasters who wouldn't be thought of as handsome. Another double standard I hope will change soon.
  18. On the other side, Stone should get a lot of playing time with Duchene who's playing for a new contract and new team. If Duchene finds a way to put up career numbers, Stone should benefit. Anything under 8 million would be manageable but if he signs for more, I'll have to drop him.
  19. $4 million is the new $2-$2.5 million contracts of last season. It does look like we're heading to some tough negotiations for a new player's contract in 2022.
  20. You need a better agent!
  21. I blame it all on paying your Superstars what they're worth. Now all important role players can say I'm at least worth half of that.
  22. We're now seeing the effect of today's NHL superstars salaries exceeding 11 million as the new norm. It leaves the important supporting role players that each team needs an opportunity to say, I'm at least worth half that amount and voila, we're seeing these players signing contracts in the 4.5 to 5.5 million dollars range. The days of signing these players to contacts of 4 million or less are disappearing fast. As the NHL continues to grow successfully, the cap limit will continue a steady rise. It's a good time to be playing in the NHL.
  23. I think Hyman stays with Matthews. Marleau Tavares Nylander Hyman Matthews Marner a 1st class PP of Marner Tavares Nylander Matthews Rielly and with the potential rise of Ozhiganoz, Dermott, Borgman and Liljegren and a resurgence of Zaitzev on the blueline, the Leafs should be playing a lot of Playoff games in the next 5 years.
  24. Good trade for both teams. St. Louis needed a quality center that wins draws. Buffalo gets supporting players that will take some pressure off the young ones. I believe Eichel will love playing with a big, talented winger like Thompson.
  25. Never going to happen. Remember who's their coach. He's building the 1, 2 punch down the middle as he had with Datsyuk, Zetterberg during the time Detroit was successful. Looking around the league, most of the successful teams have 2 great centers. I expect 5 years from now, Tavares and Matthews will still be together. And this trade will makes Matthews' life much easier and he'll be a better player because of it.
